GoodShip* Activator supported Public Life via our Activator Programme by providing crucial, AI-enabled strategic business development for the Citizen First LCR cohort, helping "hidden entrepreneurs" transform their lived experience into investable, high-impact ventures.
"Hidden entrepreneurs" in the Liverpool City Region often possess business ideas born from deep, personal experience with health and social challenges, yet they face significant barriers to entry. While Public Life addressed the financial barrier by paying these founders a Real Living Wage salary, a critical gap remained.
We asked: How do you translate profound personal passion into a scalable, fundable business model without requiring traditional business qualifications?
In partnership with Public Life, we delivered a dynamic support intervention centered on our AI-driven workbook methodology. This approach intentionally circumvented the need for traditional business credentials, allowing founders to leverage their intuition directly.
Through the programme, the cohort explored:

The results were transformative for the founders and the programme.
Founders gained immediate access to professional structuring and language, significantly boosting their confidence and credibility. The use of AI drastically reduced the time required to move from initial concept to a structured business case, ensuring they maximised their year of supported salary.
We saw:
This collaboration proves that with the right technical and strategic support, lived experience can be the foundation of high-impact business.
By helping founders translate personal conviction into clear commercial models, we ensured the final ventures were not just commercial enterprises, but community-led solutions—fulfilling Public Life's core vision of creating systemic change from the ground up.
