The project

The Challenge

When Port Vale secured promotion to League One in the English Football League, the moment called for something more than a traditional media approach. This wasn’t just a story to be told about the fans, it was one to be told with them.

The club wanted to capture the passion, pride, and perspective of its supporters as the celebrations unfolded, and we had just the tool to do it.

The Solution

We worked with Port Vale to roll out our Fableit MVP — a minimum viable product version of our connected storytelling platform, designed to empower audiences to capture and curate moments from their own point of view.

Supporters were invited to use Fableit to document the club’s big day: from the streets to the stands, from team buses to trophy lifts. This wasn’t about slick production, it was about raw, authentic, first-person content.

Fableit allowed Port Vale to:

  • Gather fan-submitted images in real time
  • Tag and organise content with AI tools
  • Moderate and curate the best moments
  • Build a lasting, owned archive of celebration content

A Real Use Case

Port Vale’s promotion gave us a powerful, real-world scenario to validate Fableit’s utility at a live, high-energy public event. It was more than a test; it was proof that fans are not just consumers of content; they’re creators of culture.

Fableit helped turn a single moment into a living, collective memory.

Collaborative Testing & Delivery

This was a true collaboration between GoodShip*, the Port Vale team, and the club’s loyal supporters. We worked closely with the club’s content and media department to align the platform’s use with their storytelling goals, ensuring it felt intuitive, safe, and on-brand.

Throughout the process, we:

  • Ran user testing with fans and internal teams to ensure ease of use
  • Gathered valuable feedback on the upload journey, challenges, and moderation flow
  • Used insights to iterate the MVP for better functionality and clarity

Unfiltered Storytelling

The result was a content collection rooted in authenticity. Candid shots. Crowd reactions. Personal perspectives. No filters, no polish — just real emotion, captured and shared by the people who lived it.

This approach offered the Port Vale team a new way to extend their media coverage and build a deeper connection with their fanbase, while gaining insight into the types of content that truly resonate.

What’s Next?

This pilot not only validated Fableit’s technical foundations, but also demonstrated the emotional value of crowd-sourced storytelling. It’s helping shape our roadmap for Fableit’s wider release, and setting the tone for future partnerships across sport, culture, and live events.
